Recently, HXIT held the 2026 Symposium on Integration of General and Professional Education under the theme of Educating Talents through the Integration of General and Professional Education in the Digital-Intelligent Era. All school leaders, deans of  schools and heads of functional departments attended the meeting, which was presided over by Ding Chengzhong, Vice President and Dean of the School of General Education.

In his opening speech, Ding Chengzhong stressed that educators must adhere to the mission of fostering virtue through education in the digital-intelligent era. The symposium aims to pool wisdom, exchange experience and explore a talent training model adapted to future development. Prior to the symposium, the Public Basic Course Group, Engineering Course Group and Liberal Arts Course Group had conducted multiple special seminars, laying a solid foundation for the exchanges at the meeting.

In the group report session, all groups shared their practical achievements in the integration of general and specialized education. Centering on the core of "Integration, Empowerment and Symbiosis"，the Public Basic Course Group demonstrated the integrated transformation practices of College English, Ideological and Political Education, Physical Education, Mathematics and Physics courses.

The Engineering Course Group analyzed the connotation and implementation path around the "Two Questions, Three Reflections and Three Suggestions", and shared the reform framework with Principles and Applications of Sensors as a case in point. Adhering to the concept of "Promoting Specialized Education with General Education and Integrating Professional Education into General Education", the Liberal Arts Course Group presented the construction achievements of 11 pilot integrated courses, covering the innovative teaching models of the School of Business, the School of Foreign Languages and other schools.

Cheng Yanxia, Dean of the School of Business and Executive Deputy Director of the General Education Committee, sorted out HXIT’s exploration in the integration of general and specialized education since 2021, and clarified that HXIT will further deepen the reform, improve the supporting mechanism and optimize the curriculum structure in the future.

Zhang Xiaodong, Chairman of the School Board and Director of the General Education Committee, delivered a concluding speech. He affirmed the achievements made in the early stage and emphasized that HXIT will focus on improving education quality in the future, reconstruct the talent training system, optimize the curriculum structure, and cultivate new-era talents with comprehensive qualities such as lifelong learning ability and critical thinking.
